About Big Valley Christian School

Big Valley Christian School (BVCS) exists to glorify God through excellence in Christian education, preparing students to impact the world for Christ. Founded in 1974 as a ministry of Big Valley Grace Community Church, BVCS serves over 790 students from Preschool through 12th grade and is known for its vibrant spiritual community, strong academics, and commitment to developing Christ-centered leaders.

Position Overview

The Superintendent of Big Valley Christian School is a God-honoring, Jesus-focused, Holy Spirit-led leader who provides visionary, spiritual, and operational leadership for all aspects of the school’s ministry. Reporting jointly to the Executive Pastor of Big Valley Grace Community Church (BVGCC) and the BVCS Board, the Superintendent oversees the spiritual life, academic program, personnel, finances, and facilities of the school, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision of BVGCC.

This is a full-time, year-round (215-day) position requiring a servant leader with strong administrative experience and a deep devotion to God and commitment to Christian education.

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership & Vision

  • Provide Christ-centered leadership for the entire BVCS community.

  • Ensure that the mission, vision, and biblical foundation of BVCS are clearly articulated and integrated into every program.

  • Partner with the Executive Pastor and BVCS Board to advance the long-term strategic vision for the school.

Organizational Leadership

  • Lead and develop the BVCS leadership team and administrative staff.

  • Foster a culture of unity, professionalism, and spiritual growth among faculty and staff.

  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders — church leadership, board, staff, parents, and the community.

Educational Excellence

  • Ensure that academic programs meet or exceed ACSI and WASC standards.

  • Oversee curriculum development, instructional quality, and student achievement.

  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement rooted in faith and learning.

Operational & Financial Stewardship

  • Oversee budgeting, finance, and stewardship of school resources in collaboration with BVGCC.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Manage facilities operations and planning for maintenance, upgrades, and expansion.

Community Relations

  • Represent BVCS as its chief ambassador within the local community and broader Christian education network.

  • Cultivate partnerships with families, churches, and community organizations.

  • Promote a positive image of BVCS that attracts families and donors who share its mission.

Professional Qualifications

  • Mature, committed Christian demonstrating spiritual maturity and servant leadership.

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.

  • California Administrative Credential (completed or willing to complete).

  • ACSI Administrative Credential (completed or willing to complete).

  • Proven success as a Christian school administrator or educational leader.

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build trust and inspire collaboration.

  • Must fully support the Statement of Faith, Constitution, and Bylaws of Big Valley Grace Community Church and be (or become) an active member.
